Writers Bios

Kerry Eielson is an honors graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Madison (B.A. in Comparative Literature with a poetry concentration in Creative Writing).

She has worked in publishing in New York and Paris, at Self, ELLE, Talk and The New York Times; has ghostwritten several books on alternative healing, and authored a book about weddings.

Kerry’s creative writing projects have included a novel and two screenplays, one of which is about her great grand-uncle, the aviation pioneer Carl Ben Eielson. She has also attended many writers’ conferences ranging from The Breadloaf Writers Conference to the Sherman Oaks Screenwriting Conference. She also loves sketching and painting.

Kerry was born in Maryland the armybrat daugther (with her older brother) of an Army Colonel surgeon and a multi-talented mom who ran a small crafts business and, later, a catering service. Kerry grew up in Germany, Colorado and Massachusetts before attending school in Wisconsin and then Paris, where she lived for three years before moving to New York and, finally, Labastide Esparbairenque.

John Fanning has an honors masters degree in Modern Drama from University College Dublin and a degree in English and Greek and Roman Civilization from St. Patrick’s University, Maynooth.

John’s last job before founding La Muse was working as a researcher/reporter for Vanity Fair magazine in New York. He recently completed a noir novel, A Murder of Crows

John was born in rural Ireland and is the eldest of five brothers and two sisters. His father worked in farming as an agricultural advisor for the Irish government. He has lived in Dublin, London, New York and France.

Kerry and John met and married in 1999 and have twin boys, born in April 2004, as well as a beautiful two year old girl.

They founded La Muse in 2001.
