New Books

Just wanted to let you all know that two previous residents have new books coming out that they worked on at La Muse.
Hot Flash Sonnets - Moira Egan - La Muse

The first is Hot Flash Sonnets by the American poet Moira Egan, published by Passager Books.

Moira lives in Rome. She got her BA from Bryn Mawr College, MA from the Johns Hopkins University Writing Seminars, and an MFA from Columbia University.

Her 2009 Bar Napkin Sonnets won the 2008 Ledge Poetry Chapbook Competition. She has also written the collections Cleave (2004), La Seta della Cravatta / The Silk of the Tie (2009), a bilingual collection with Italian translations by her husband, Damiano Abeni and Spin (2010).

Moira just posted the book to us and graciously included us and fellow Musers in the acknowledgments:

Gratitude to Kerry Eielson and John Fanning of La Muse, where the sequence was finished, with the kind support of fellow Musers, particularly Clio and Euterpe.

Here’s what the former American Poet Laureate Billy Collins had to say about Moira’s collection:

As her title promises, Moira Egan tilts the sonnet to a new angle here as she explores the decline and ultimate vanishing of the female body. Her unabashed admissions, balanced by the sonnet’s strictures and the wit of her endings, extend to the reader the double pleasure of craft and disclosure.

Meeting Shiva - Tiziana Stupia - La MuseThe second book is Meeting Shiva by Tiziana Stupia which comes out in August 2013.

Tiziana is a German born writer, yoga teacher, ayurvedic consultant, vedic fire ceremonies practitioner, and adventurer who lives in Leamington Spa, in the UK.

Meeting Shiva is a spiritual memoir about Tiziana’s search for her tantric soul mate. When her soul mate doesn’t materialize after eight months of wandering through Tibet, Nepal, Pakistan and India, she decides to go home. But before she leaves Tiziana sets out on a final mountain trip. It is then that she meets Rudra, the man she has been waiting for all her life.

However, Rudra is a sannyasi, a celibate Hindu monk who lives in a rigorous ashram in the Himalayas…

Tiziana has published widely in magazines such as Mosaic, Yoga Magazine and Pagan Dawn on the topics of spirituality, travel, health and personal growth.

Trained as a priestess of an ancient Goddess tradition, Tiziana spent many years leading transformational rituals in the community and in the UK’s prison service, where she worked as a pagan minister. She now runs seminars about Ayurveda, Yoga and Imago Relationship Education world-wide.
