Melpomene is a large double bedroom adjoining Thalia, with tall French windows overlooking the valley.
Melpomene’s name means “to sing” or “the one that is melodious” in Greek, from the verb melpomai meaning “to celebrate with dance and song.”
For whatever reason she went from being the Muse of singing to becoming the muse of tragedy.
She is usually depicted with a headgear of cypress, wearing cothurnus - boots traditionally worn by actors - and either holding a knife or club in one hand and the tragic mask in the other.
Melpomene , as with all the other muses at La Muse is the daughter of Zeus and Mnemosyne.
The room is also furnished with antiques and a very comfortable love seat.
The shower and toilet are just down the hall. (There are two other public toilets in the house.)
