Who: Shanti Elke Bannwart
Where: Sante Fe, New Mexico
What: Shanti was born in Germany at the onset of WWII. She moved to the U.S. in 1983.
In addition to writing, Shanti is a licensed psychotherapist, life-coach, and clay artist educated at the Institute of American Indian Art.
She received her MFA in Creative Writing from Goddard College.
Her essays have been published in national and international magazines and has been awarded various prizes in literary competitions.
In Her Words:
I want to tell you that my memoir, which I completed at La Muse, has been published recently: “Dancing On One Foot: Growing up in Nazi Germany.”
The last chapter “Song and Silence”, is about my stay in La Muse. I just LOVED my time there, the beauty of the area, the wine and food, the friends, the nightingale and the coockoo. I am sending people your way and I look forward to coming again myself.
